We were treated to the ultimate Ukrainian meal… shashleek (something
like our shishkabob). We especially wanted to visit with Viktor and
Tonya. Tonya as many of you know and have prayed has a brain tumor.
They have a wonderful family and it has been difficult for them to
continue to move ahead. We saw them on Saturday and they were leaving
on Tuesday to travel to America to get another opinion of Tonya’s
condition.
Viktor has stepped aside from our program because of needing to take
care of her and meet financial obligations that have been incurred. He
has been one of my most effective and visionary church planters. It has
been hard to see him side-lined right now but we are trusting in time
he will get to come back and continue in the program. In the meantime
he has taken an old soviet collective farm and is turning it into a
Ukrainian resort-type interprise. Shown here they are finishing hotel type rooms to the left and the restaurant is straight ahead through the open door.
Anatoli, one of his men that he has mentored and has planted a couple
of churches has also been affected with this because he rode to Kiev
with Viktor as they studied together. Also, Anatoli told me that he has
started a new business to provide for his family and is not able now to
come back to school until there is more stability in his business.
On our way home Mary Ellen and I were glad that we went and spent the
day with these wonderful students and friends. They are important to
the Kingdom and we need to continue to support them in our prayers.
